The objective of this course is to enable learners to use English confidently and flexibly in everyday situations. On completing the course, students will have practised talking about general topics or topics of personal interest among other areas.
The first two units of this course provide the necessary language to be able to introduce people and oneself and hold conversations with peers and friends in English about the most common sport and free time activities. The exercises review some essential grammatical structures needed to converse with confidence.
The third part of the course focuses on presentations and how to plan them. Learners will see expressions to structure presentations as well as to present one's own point of view and interact with others. There are also examples of different types of presentations with extensive listening practice at the end of the module, with an example of a short presentation.
The final module deals with the language used to debate topics. There are individual lessons to present ways of agreeing and disagreeing as well as examples of groups of people participating in debates on different themes.
